Edge Transport Ltd is looking for an enthusiastic Van to C Licence Apprentice to join our friendly and professional team in Deeside.

You will be responsible for a variety of duties on site, though driving to perform customer deliveries and collections across North Wales & North West will represent the majority of your workload.

Initially driving our 3.5T Renault Master van, this role includes Level 2 Certificate in Driving Goods Vehicles so would be ideally suited to someone who would like to progress to driving 7.5T and beyond. You will also gain invaluable skills and experience in a busy commercial and distribution environment whilst completing the apprenticeship framework.

Based at our purpose-built storage and distribution facility on Zone 2 of the Deeside Industrial Park, you’ll need to have a genuine desire to ensure that our customers and partners receive the highest possible level of service.

45 hours per week (unpaid breaks) with flexibility to meet the reasonable requirements of the needs of the Company. The role is subject to a 2 year training agreement.

Job Outline: 

  • Deliver and collect freight as instructed providing excellent customer service at all times
  • Ensure that vehicles are driven in a safe and courteous manner at all times
  • Report any issues of damage, defects, near misses etc.
  • Safely operate vehicle tail-lift and electronic pump truck
  • Ensure you use your PDA correctly to confirm arrivals, deliveries and collections
  • Ensure you complete all required delivery and collection paperwork
  • Correctly label any freight
  • Ensure Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to on and off site
  • Wash vehicles and trailers as instructed
  • General housekeeping such as ensuring that all work areas are clean and tidy
  • Liaise closely with other operational staff and the Traffic Office team to ensure that our high quality standards are maintained
  • Provide support and cover to other staff as required
  • Successfully complete your C Licence Apprenticeship
  • Clean drivers licence

Applicants must be able to follow procedures and complete tasks safely and accurately. You must also be a good verbal communicator, a great team player and be comfortable working to timelines in a sometimes pressurised environment.

Experience of driving a 3.5T vehicle is desirable but not essential as full training will be given to the right candidate. A copy of our Privacy Notice will be sent to each candidate and candidates will be asked to complete a driving assessment as part of the selection process.

Salary will be dependent on age and experience.
