An opportunity has arisen for an experience Class 1 Driver to join our busy Transport department in Bardon. Leicestershire



To ensure the company’s collection and delivery activities are carried out effectively and efficiently within the appropriate legal, procedural and health & safety constraints, ensuring a high standard of customer service is achieved both externally and internally.


  • To drive company vehicles to SAFED standards ensuring all relevant safety checks are completed.
  • To comply with all current drivers’ hours legislation and Working Time Directive requirements. Ensure that all Tachographs and print outs are handed in and your digital driver’s card is downloaded weekly.
  • To ensure all collection and delivery documentation is completed, fully and accurately and handed in neatly. All proof of delivery notes must be signed, printed and dated, with the correct pallet count endorsed.
  • To ensure freight is loaded and delivered in a safe and secure condition, taking into account all applicable legal requirements, paying special regard to axle and gross vehicle weights.
  • To ensure that any variations or damages are recorded and bought to the attention of the Transport Line Manager, before you depart the collection/delivery point.
  • To provide high levels of communication ensuring that the Traffic Office is informed of any delivery / collection issue including but not exclusive to; possible late deliveries (prior to original time slot), variations to route, notification of leaving last delivery/collection point, claused PODs and traffic delays.
  • Endeavour to alleviate any accidents, claims or possible claims that may be made upon the company, high-lighting any issues immediately to your Transport Line Manager.
  • To ensure all freight is correctly identified in accordance with company procedure.
  • To ensure all relevant company quality procedures and standard operating procedures are maintained at all times.
  • To attend Drivers Meetings, appraisal reviews and internal reviews as required.
  • To be aware of and contribute to quality plans and objectives within the company and put forward suggestions for positive improvement.
  • To ensure you promote a positive, courteous and caring image to clients, visitors and fellow staff as well as members of the general public.
  • To ensure that customers’ goods and pallets are maintained in a good condition at all times.
  • To ensure that premises and vehicles are left in a secure and safe condition whilst maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment at all times.
  • To facilitate the teamwork environment.
  • To ensure a smart and tidy appearance and a driver’s uniform must be worn at all times.


· Good knowledge off vehicle maintenance

· HGV driving license essential

· Goods self-motivation skills

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Excellent organisation skills


· Positive attitude and commitment

· Reliable and flexible with strong work ethic.

· Able to effectively prioritise and adapt to variable workload.

· Punctual, presentable and with good attendance.

Hours of work - AM Shift - 4 - 6am start

Salary - £532.45 per week + £30 per week (Bonus paid Monthly) Bonus incentive
